Academic Excellence in Nursing Education
At Saraswathy College of Nursing, our curriculum is designed to build competent, compassionate, and confident nursing professionals ready for the realities of modern healthcare. We follow a structured syllabus aligned with the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council and Kerala Nursing Council, blending strong theoretical foundations with extensive hands-on clinical training. Our students learn through a mix of classroom instruction, simulation-based skills training, and supervised clinical postings in hospital and community settings, ensuring they graduate not just with knowledge, but with real-world competence and the confidence to care.
GNM – General Nursing and Midwifery
Duration: 3.5 Years (including 6 months internship) The GNM program is a foundational diploma course that prepares students for a career in general nursing and midwifery care. Students gain comprehensive training in patient care, medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, and midwifery practices through a balanced mix of classroom learning and supervised clinical postings in hospitals and community health settings. Graduates are equipped to work as registered nurses in hospitals, clinics, and public health institutions, with a strong foundation in both curative and preventive healthcare.
B.Sc Nursing
Duration: 4 Years (including internship) B.Sc Nursing is a comprehensive undergraduate degree program that combines in-depth theoretical knowledge with extensive clinical practice across major nursing specialties, including medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, obstetric and gynecological nursing, mental health nursing, and community health nursing. Students benefit from state-of-the-art simulation labs, structured hospital postings, and community health exposure, preparing them to take on advanced clinical, administrative, and leadership roles in the healthcare sector. Graduates are eligible for registration as professional nurses and can pursue further specialization through postgraduate studies.
Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
Duration: 2 Years Post Basic B.Sc Nursing is a bridge degree program designed for GNM-qualified registered nurses who wish to advance their academic qualifications and professional standing. The program builds on students' existing clinical experience with advanced coursework in nursing research, nursing education, management, and specialized clinical practice areas. Through a combination of focused theoretical study and higher-level clinical postings, graduates emerge with the expertise to take on senior clinical, teaching, and administrative roles, and are well-positioned to pursue postgraduate studies such as M.Sc Nursing.
M.Sc Nursing
Duration: 2 Years M.Sc Nursing is an advanced postgraduate program designed for B.Sc-qualified nurses seeking to specialize and move into higher clinical, academic, and leadership roles within healthcare. The program offers specialization in areas such as medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, obstetric and gynecological nursing, pediatric nursing, and psychiatric/mental health nursing, combining advanced theoretical study with research, clinical specialization, and teaching practicum. Graduates are prepared to take on roles as nurse educators, clinical specialists, nurse administrators, and researchers, contributing to the advancement of nursing practice and healthcare delivery at a broader level.
